Privacy Policy
BACKLast updated: 09-28-2026Welcome to Coffee Grand Prix. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
1) What we collect
When you play, the app may collect and/or generate the following:
- Driver name you enter (optional; you may use a pseudonym).
- Account details, only if you choose to sign in — see section 5.
- Gameplay metrics: lap times (including best lap) and track name.
- Timestamps when a best lap is submitted.
- Technical/validation telemetry saved with best lap submissions:
- Locally processed anti‑cheat checks (e.g., checkpoint visits/order) may run in your browser; these are used to validate runs and are not stored in our database. Anti‑cheat submission fields are currently disabled in our database schema.
2) Where data goes
- Database: When you set a best lap, the game sends: best_lap (time), driver_name, track_name, created_at, and in-game telemetry.
- Microsoft Clarity (analytics): We send minimal analytics signals:
- Properties set:
lastLapTime, totalLapsCompleted - Event:
new_best_lap
Clarity may also collect interaction data (e.g., clicks, scrolls) and device/browser metadata per Microsoft’s policies. - Google Analytics: Page views, plus gameplay events: starting a race, finishing a lap (lap time and whether it was a personal best), your first lap of each day and your streak length, saving a best lap (with its leaderboard position), sharing, signing in or creating an account, friend requests and invites, and submitting a track. We do not send your driver name, email address or account ID to Google. Google may also process device, browser and approximate location data per its policies.
3) Device/browser info
- We detect general device type via your browser’s user agent to adjust features (e.g., mobile/iOS handling). This check happens locally and is not stored in our database.
- Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics may process device and browser information as part of their services.
4) Cookies and similar technologies
- We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- We do set a small number of functional cookies: one that keeps a play session consistent so lap submissions can be validated, and — only if you sign in — a session cookie that keeps you signed in. Signing out removes the sign-in cookie.
- If you create or join a league without an account, we set one more functional cookie that remembers which leagues you are in, so your laps count toward them. Signing in to an account moves those leagues to it and removes the cookie.
- Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (
_ga, _ga_*) to recognise returning visitors, so we can count daily players and how many come back. They are not used for advertising. - Microsoft Clarity may use cookies or similar technologies according to its policies. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.
5) Accounts and friends (optional)
- Playing does not require an account; you can keep racing anonymously.
- If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture URL from Google, and store them to identify your account. We never see or store your Google password.
- You pick a driver name, which is public: it appears on leaderboards and is how friends find you.
- Signed-in drivers get a public profile page at /driver/<your name>, showing your race history, lap times and finishing positions. Anyone with the link can view it, and it is linked from the leaderboard, but we ask search engines not to index it. It only ever shows laps you set while signed in.
- Laps you set while signed in are linked to your account, so your history and your verified badge persist.
- If you add friends, we store which accounts are connected. Your friends can see your driver name and lap times. Invite links you create are stored until they expire or you replace them.
- We do not email you. There are no notification or marketing emails.
6) How we use data
- Show and maintain game results.
- Detect invalid runs and tune gameplay.
- Improve the site via aggregate analytics.
7) Data sharing and selling
- We do not sell your data.
- Processors: Microsoft (Clarity), Google (Analytics) and the database process data on our behalf.
8) Retention
- Best-lap submissions are kept until removed during routine cleanup or upon your request.
9) Your choices and rights
- Use a pseudonymous driver name if you do not want to share your real name.
- Request access or deletion of your best-lap entries by contacting us (include your driver name and track details).
- You can remove a friend at any time from the Friends page, which deletes the connection for both people, and replace an invite link to disable the old one.
- Request deletion of your account by contacting us. That removes your Google identity, your driver name and your friend connections. Tell us whether you also want your existing lap times deleted or kept as anonymous entries.
